Duration: 3-hours per session
Introduction: A carefully considered garden plan is the foundation of a happy garden. Factors to consider include location, size of the garden, planting methods, and what you are inspired to grow, eat, and enjoy. By the end of the two-part series, participants will be able to create a garden plan specific to their own site with greater independence, confidence, and joy.
Vegetable Garden Planning Part 2: Garden plans come in all shapes and sizes, from a rough, hand-drawn sketch to detailed computer generated drawings of entire landscapes. No matter how simple or elaborate, a planting plan will help determine what to plant, where, when, and how much. This then informs what garden inputs to purchase, and becomes an important reference in following years. Using the crop list we created in Garden Planning Part 1 along with a sample layout of three vegetable garden beds, participants learn how to create a planting plan that incorporates crop rotation, companion planting, and succession planting. The end result is a detailed planting schedule with a complete plant and seed list. Participants will have an opportunity to get feedback on planting plans for their own gardens and have plenty of time to ask questions.
All participants will be required to adhere to our Covid protocols as they exist at the time of your workshop.
